Hostal La Rusa, named for a glamorous but mysterious Russian lady "La Rusa" (the Russian woman), is one of the distinctive features of the Malecon in Baracoa. The lady's memory is revered and preserved in this small but cosy and intimate hotel. Established as Miramar Hotel in 1953 by Russian Emigré (and princess) Mima Rubenskaya who settled in Baracoa after fleeing the Revolution in 1917. This is just another myth enveloping Baracoa, the wonderful city where visitors can enjoy the pleasant sea breezes and an immense panorama of the blue waters of the sea and the singular topography of the Yunque together with a range of mountains that crowd behind the town.
